Like many other people, recently I have discovered essential oils. I have known what they were (or what I thought they were) for a few years but never really put too much into them. I knew they smelled good and I would use them occasionally for scents in a room. A few times, I had gone to yoga classes where the teachers would spray essential oil mists on us at the end of class. I always enjoyed this experience.
For Christmas I put some oils and a diffuser on my wish list. Santa delivered and we started to use these in our room at night (I have come to really enjoy this evening ritual). This made me more curious, yet I remained my super skeptical self . So when my friend and yoga teacher had a class on essential oils, I jumped in!
The first class I went to was cut short for me, due to prior obligations, but for the short time I was there I really enjoyed the oils we tested and the information I was getting. I loved everything about the oils that we were trying, not just the smells but the fact that I could tell a difference between these high quality oils and the other brands I had at home. Still I remained skeptical… yet even more curious.
For the past couple of years, I have been trying to eliminate the chemicals in my house and in the products I use, as best as I can. I don’t know about other people but for me it can be overwhelming. All of the information coming out about which chemicals are safe and which are bad seems to change daily.
What sold me on using essential oils more in my daily life is the fact that it was a solution to something I was already doing, and it made it much simpler. They are just one ingredient, and that I can actually wrap my head around!
Plus the ways in which I could use these oils were endless, from making products at home like cleaners, deodorants, lotions, to diffusing them and also using some of them topically. There are plenty of people who believe in these oils 100%, which is great. However, I am still new to using essential oils and have kept my skeptical optimism, as some call it. 🙂
I am excited about the possibilities of these oils and wanted to share my experience so far with you. I would love to hear about any experiences you may have had with essential oils! I’m interested in learning more about essential oils so that I can pass along useful information to others, in hopes that they will find some healthy alternatives in their own life.
